Amber Codex™ ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Lisa Abriani (ABN 48 830 045 311), South Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it, how long we keep it, and your rights.
By using this website or purchasing a reading, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. What we collect
To create your personalised reading, we collect:
- Identity information: your preferred name, your full name at birth, and your current name if it differs (used only for numerology calculations, not for how we address you)
- Birth data: date, time (or approximate time, or a note that it's unknown) and place of birth, which we convert to coordinates and a historical time zone to calculate your chart
- Values, reflections and personality responses: your core values and your own definitions of them, any reflections you choose to share, and your Enneagram answers and result
- Contact information: your email address, and anything you send through our Contact page
- If you buy a gift: your email, and the names and short message you choose for the gift card. We never need the recipient's birth details from you.
- If you use our free core values quiz: your answers stay on your own device. We only receive anything if you ask us to email your results, and then we receive your email address, your first name if you give it, your top five values and the words you wrote for them. We never ask for birth details in the quiz.
- If you order a printed print: the delivery name, address and email you enter at checkout, so it can be printed and posted to you.
- Payment information: handled entirely by our payment provider, Stripe. Your card details never reach us.
We save your answers as you go, from the moment you enter your email address, so you can leave and come back without starting again. This means some information is held even if you never finish (see Section 5 for how long).
2. How we use it
We use your information only to create your reading and run this business:
- Calculating your astrological chart, numerology and Human Design
- Writing the narrative of your reading
- Emailing you your finished reading, and resending the link if you ask for it
- Following up once if you start but don't finish, with a private link back to where you left off. Every reminder includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask for a link yourself at any time.
- Emailing you your values when you ask for them in our free core values quiz. If you tick the box to hear from us, we also send two short follow up emails about living by your values, then occasional emails about Amber Codex readings and offers. If you leave it unticked, you get the one email you asked for and nothing else.
- Answering questions you ask about your reading with Ask your reading, if you choose to use it
- Asking once for a review after your reading arrives
- Occasionally emailing you as a past customer about related Amber Codex readings, for example to let you know when next year's Year Ahead reading is available. Every one of these emails includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
- Improving the accuracy and quality of our readings
We never sell your information or share it with other businesses for their advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers we need to deliver your reading, each of which handles it on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Mapbox: converts your place of birth into coordinates
- AstroWay: performs the astrological and Human Design calculations from your birth date, time and location
- Anthropic: provides the AI model that drafts the written part of your reading. It receives your preferred name, your calculated placements and numbers, and your values and reflections. It does not receive your legal name, your date, time or place of birth, or your email address. If you use Ask your reading, it also receives the text of your reading and the questions you type, so it can answer them.
- Resend: sends our emails (your reading link, reminders, review requests, occasional updates about new readings, and anything you request)
- Stripe: processes payment
- Gelato: if you order a printed or framed print, prints it and posts it to you. It receives the print file and your delivery name, address and email. It never receives your birth details on their own, only the finished print
- Kit (kit.com): if you join our email list, holds your email address and first name so we can send you occasional updates. It never receives your values, birth details or answers
- Render: hosts our website and the systems that save your progress and write your reading
- Umami: counts visits to our website and intake, and which buttons are tapped. It uses no cookies and never receives your name, email address, birth details or answers
Our domain is registered through Squarespace, which does not receive any of your information.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
4. How we protect it
Because your full birth name together with your date and place of birth could be misused for identity theft, we treat it with particular care:
- We keep as little as possible, for as short a time as possible. Your answers are cleared automatically once they are no longer needed (see Section 5). Your finished reading shows only your preferred name and chart placements, never your legal name or birth details.
- Encrypted in transit. All information travels between your browser, our systems and our providers over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
- Restricted access. Only the business owner can access stored records, through tools protected by private keys and two-factor sign-in. Our own admin tools are built so that they never display your answers on screen. If you ask for a copy of your data, it is emailed only to the address it is saved under.
- Links you receive are private. Links to resume an intake or open a reading use long random codes that can't be guessed. Resume links stop working after 30 days, or as soon as you pay.
- Card details never reach us. Stripe handles all payment information.
No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
5. How long we keep it

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time (see Section 6).
6. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We email it to the address your information is saved under.
- Correct anything that's inaccurate
- Delete your information. We'll remove your saved answers and your reading. Payment records held by Stripe are kept as tax law requires.
- Stop emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any reminder, review, update or values email, or contact us. Unsubscribing never affects access to a reading you have bought.
To make a request, use our Contact page, sending from the email address you used with us, so we can confirm the request is genuinely yours. We'll respond within 30 days.
7. Children
This service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a minor has given us information without consent, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Where your information is processed
We are based in Australia, but the providers listed in Section 3 store and process information on servers in other countries, including the United States. We choose established providers with strong security practices. By using this service, you consent to your information being processed outside Australia.
9. Cookies and analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits to our website and intake, which pages are viewed, which buttons are tapped, the website you came from, and your general device type and country. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect your name, email address, birth details or any answers you give. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. During the intake and the free values quiz, your answers are also saved on your own device so the page can restore them if you close it. You can clear these through your browser settings.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
